God be merciful to me, a sinner – no better than anyone else on His earth.
Mark David Richer, a believer in the gospel of Jesus Christ and a believer on the Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of all men, especially believers – so that I don’t inherit eternal damnation in hell and, later, be thrown into the lake of fire where the devil will be thrown and never get out forever – where the beast and the false prophet will also be forever.

It will soon be the 53rd anniversary of our graduation on June 12th, 1970.
Tonight is June 4th, 2023 — Sunday Night
I was just listening to a song by Pete Seeger and noticed the year 1970 on the screen below the picture.
That’s what got me thinking of our WHS class graduation anniversary coming soon – on June 12th.
The theme of the song is spiritual . . .

Near the beginning of the song something red appears on screen.
I’ve listened to this song before
But only tonight did I notice something inside that red splash.
The left and right arms and hands of two figures – facing each other —
Suggesting a couple, perhaps.
We who are still alive from WHS Class -1970 have come a long way in the past 53 years ago.
We were teenagers back then –
Now we are in our early 70s.
The Twentieth century was in its 70th year that day we graduated.
Now we ourselves have completed 70 + years of our personal lives – those of us/US who are still alive.
And we are in the 23rd plus year of the Twenty-First Century. We are actually in the 24th year – having completed 23 years, already.
Many of us are now 71 — plus.
71 reminds me of a song by Frank Sinatra . . . maybe he doesn’t mention “When I was 71 . . .” but, he does sing of other “ones” . . .
I realize it’s strange that someone of our class who didn’t go to any of the proms; and didn’t even have a girlfriend all through high school – and hasn’t ever been married – should write about such things as these . . . Well, maybe all that should be said about that is that soon after graduating, I did have the honor of dating the WHS junior year queen of the prom many times during the late 1970-71 year. Thank you, Dorothy. Still remember going with you to the Avon Cinema near Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island where we saw the movie, “Love Story,” in December of 1970, I think it was. We got the very last tickets at the ticket booth before the young lady said, “We’re sold out.”
I understand I’m no Frank Sinatra – and my life has not been as his life was — but, anyway . . .
This song is not particularly about my own personal life. I have nothing to boast about concerning my own personal life; however, I am most thankful to True God for what He accomplished for all of us/US — on Calvary – for our Redemption – if we believe the gospel and place our faith in Him, the Son of God.
And I’m thankful to Andree Mailloux who in 1978 wrote to me about her becoming a born again Christian five years earlier — after her younger brother, Marc Mailloux, shared with her his faith in Jesus Christ – so that I subsequently became a believer in Jesus and the gospel of the kingdom of God – by Andree’s testimony to me in her letters — with quotations from the gospel and the epistles of The New Testament of the Bible – and visiting her at Westminster Theological Seminary – just outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for about five days – in early April of 1978.
I think, maybe, the inclusion of Frank Sinatra’s song is to serve as an interlude from the serious subject matter of this writing. I understand that many just don’t care about the Scriptures – they are not able to connect with the things pertaining to True God. However, the way things are “going” in the world lately, it may be that even die-hard unbelievers – a few of them, maybe – might suddenly realize that “The end of all things is at hand” as Peter wrote in one of his epistles – [1 Peter 4:7a] and that it is far better to be converted to Christ and be born again than to spend eternity enduring eternal damnation in hell and, later, be cast into the lake of fire – as the Holy Bible — inspired in every one of its words by the Holy Spirit of True God — warns us/US all – every single one of us alive on God’s earth.

Does anyone want to have a good cry ?
I know, we went to a public – not a religious – high school – but, anyway . . .
I say, “a good cry” because there are two kinds of sorrow [or grief] – there is godly sorrow – and there is worldly sorrow. Godly sorrow is good – but worldly sorrow is bad. So then, let us/US be among those who sorrow in True God’s Way – rather than sorrowing the world’s way.

So, we must not be discouraged – but rather be encouraged – that eternal life awaits us/US who believe in the way and the truth and the life – Jesus Christ the Son of God – the Savior of all men – especially believers.

This will be the eternal inheritance of those who love Him with an undying love – by His Grace – through faith in His Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ – Who has already risen from the dead – and is already glorified – as we also who believe in Him will also be glorified and regenerated and resurrected by Him at His Second Coming — Who can and will do all things for those who believe in Him.

The month of June is a special month. I understand that each of the twelve months is special in their own way –

June 19th, I believe, is also my parents’ wedding anniversary in 1948.
June 21st is the First Day of Summer.
The first time I ever slept with a woman – we didn’t go all the way – was on the night of – think it was June 19th, 1974. She was 21 and I was 22. There’s a line in a song by Simon and Garfunkel about “I’m 21 now but I won’t be for long” and “I was 21 when I wrote this song. I’m 22 now but I won’t be for long.”

Seventy is a Biblical number.
