Today is the 317th day of this year.
November 13th, 2023
3:03 AM
My mother told me that on this day of November 13th – it was 1951 – at night of this day — she was getting into a car to go to the hospital – to give birth to me – on November 14th – at 8:23 AM – according to my birth certificate – and up in that night sky – 72 years ago tonight — she saw the moon among the clouds that night.
At just after 3:00 AM this morning of November 13th, 2023 — as I was about to begin writing these words – I went out on my porch on the 8th floor of John F. Kennedy Manor in Woonsocket, Rhode Island – to look for the moon. I wanted to see if it was a full moon that my mother saw that night of November 13th, 1951 – 72 years ago today – I was still in her womb that night.
And on my porch, I looked up at the western sky and saw not the moon – but an exceedingly bright star I saw – I went back inside to get my dad’s binoculars to view this bright star in the northwestern heavens on this early morning of November 13th— it was so very bright. I wondered if it was the International Space Station. 8 minutes later I went out to look at it again – reasoning that if it was the man-made space station, it would have moved some distance in the sky during those 8 minutes. Well, it appeared to be in the same place; so, although I am not an astronomer – and have little knowledge of such things – I reasoned that this bright light in the heavens must be a star – or a planet – such as the morning star – but wait – the morning star appears in the eastern sky – not the western or north western sky – where the evening star appears. And the evening star appears rather early in the evening – not at the 3 o’clock hour of early morning. At 3:17 AM I stopped writing again and went out onto the porch in the darkness and the very chilly November air with dad’s binoculars again. The very bright star was still there in the same place. With the binoculars I searched the black sky for other stars and saw two others. They were tiny in size in comparison to the exceedingly bright one I saw at first – and looked at it again.
The reason I began writing this morning — and turned on my computer — was not to write about a mysterious star in the early morning sky. It was to write about Felicia whom I’ve been writing to online since April of this year 2023. As I was sitting in my rocking chair that had been my mom’s when she was living on Sweet Avenue where we-as-a-family all grew up on our grandmother’s property at 74-76-80 Sweet Avenue in the 1950s and ‘60s – and, later this rocking chair was also in her apartment in North Smithfield in the house owned by my sister Karen and her husband David – I was drinking my first cup of tea and thinking of Felicia my lady love in Little Rock, Arkansas. Was thinking of her grey eyes. And thinking of words that rhyme with the name of the color of her eyes: lay rhymes with grey and say and bay and way and May and Day and quay and sleigh – and gay [as in happy] and Jay and nay and pay and Ray and yeah.
At 3:33 AM went out onto the porch a third time with the binoculars and looked once again at that exceedingly large and very bright Star. And I thought to say and did say, “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.” And also saw in the vicinity of that star two lesser stars – very faint they were in comparison to The Bright One.
At 3:58 AM went out onto the porch once again with dad’s binoculars and even before looking up at the sky I said, “Lord Jesus Christ.” Then I looked at that Star with the binoculars. It was lower in the sky now and to the right of where it was at 3:03 AM – the first time I saw it this morning.

At 4:57 AM
I can still see The Bright Star in the northwestern dark sky at 4:57 AM. It is more to the right and even lower now in the sky. I believe it is NOT the dropped tool bag from the ISS.
