Someone Like You

Just began getting acquainted with someone online tonight, February 14^th, 2024.

After we chatted for about an hour, as we were saying our goodbyes, I said something agreeable about us chatting again sometime with the words “I like corresponding with someone like you.” And then, a few minutes later, I was washing some things in the pantry sink and was wondering if those words “Someone Like You” might be the title for a story. And then the first words for the story came to mind: “I always wanted to meet someone like you.” Now I’m trying to recall where I may have already heard those words before: “Someone like you.” The song: “I.O.U.” is coming to mind. Maybe those words or some words close to them [somebody like you?] are in that love song that I find so heart-touching that listening to that song makes me feel like crying. And another song title is coming to mind now: “Crying Time.” And I already know that my heart’s been wanting to do some serious crying for a long while now. I believe I need to fall in love – and that it’s going to make me cry till all the feelings of such things as sorrow and loss and disappointment in life are somehow emptied out. But then what — will I feel better or just empty ? Or will I feel ready for someone like you ?

My heart wants to cry. My heart needs to cry. Maybe my heart is like a reservoir so full to nearly overflowing that “something just has to give” something’s gotta go over that dam – even if it means the end of “horse shoe falls” to make room for something, hopefully, greater – something so much greater that the geese from Canada fly over there every day just to be a part of something greater than themselves. Another love song is coming to mind now, “The Way of Love.”

I’m feeling like crying right now and haven’t even started listening to any of those heart-touching love songs yet tonight. “Where do I begin ?” Which of those songs should I listen to first ?

Monday Night February 19, 2024. 11:05 PM.

My days are strange now. Because of occasional insomnia, maybe. And my memory is sometimes forgetful to do its job. At about 7:30 this evening felt so very sleepy just had to retire and go to bed. Fell asleep almost immediately. Woke up about 9:00 PM. And it seemed like I’d slept a full night of sleep and it was a new day; but, it wasn’t a new day yet; it was still Monday night – even though it seems like Tuesday morning to me. I re-heated and drank the last of a cup of tea that had been in my fridge. I recently found a whole new way to make my cups of tea. Instead of the simple and straight forward way of making one cup of tea and drinking all of it at one sitting, I make a 17 or 18 ounce cup of tea; then pour about 4 ounces of it into a smaller cup and add milk or almond milk and put the rest of it — about 14 ounces — in the fridge for later; this way, I get about 4 small cups of tea out of one huge cup of tea and one tea bag; and because of abdominal pain that tea exacerbates, I [hopefully] suffer less tummy ache this way. People who are young and still simple in their understanding of life might wonder: Why not just give up tea completely if it bothers you ? Drink something else, they might say – or see a doctor. Well, coffee bothers me much more; and water is so plain; it doesn’t comfort me like a cup of hot tea does. [Actually, I do drink a cup of plain water first thing in the morning sometimes – at the same time that I drink my first little 4-ounce cup of tea]. Anyway, I still want my tea — just like a baby still wants his bottle – no matter what. And the baby maybe never ever had true mother’s milk from his own mom – so he doesn’t even know anything at all about that reality – “the real thing”. He only knows his bottle of warm milk. It means the world to him. So that’s how it is between me and my cup of tea. I gotta have her. And speaking of “her.” A couple of days ago — while writing the beginning of this very story or blog or whatever it may be called – I accidentally spelled “Never” differently – like this: Nevher – which I recognized something like this Nev_Her. [I don’t exactly understand what that new way of spelling Never means]. It was up there where I typed the title of a song I wanted to place in this story: “The Twelfth of Never.” And the particular version of that music video was by Andy Williams. But I haven’t been able to find the exact music video of that song that I like so much. The version I finally settled on may be the same song, but with a different video. And by the way, Andy’s last name Williams is also the last name of the founder of this state of Rhode Island: Roger Williams. And earlier today, I counted the letters of his last name: 8 letters. That’s my number: 8. And my last name is Richer. And in my last name is also cher and in cher is her. And in her is he. And Cher’s song, “The Way of Love Is a Way of Woe” also came to mind. And Cher’s song is in this blog, too. By the way, when you get born again, even a simple life may become very interesting as you begin to see wonderful things in words and numbers and meanings that you would NevHer have noticed in your pre-born again life – before you received the Light of Christ in your heart and mind and the Helper – His Holy Spirit, the Comforter, the Counselor, the Spirit of truth, the Spirit of understanding – “to be with you forever, even unto the end of the age” as Jesus told His disciples. [See John 14:16; Matthew 28: 16-20]. And after a while all these very interesting things begin to make a simple life wonderful.

Noticed somethings interesting . . .

Song of Solomon has 8 chapters. 8 is my number. And the last chapter has 14 verses. I was born on the 14^th day. And was baptized on May 14^th, 1978 after becoming a born again Christian in early April 1978. It may have been April 6^th, 1978. And my first social worker was Jewish. Her name was Betsy. She was married. She told me her anniversary date was August 14^th. August 14^th is 8/14. And my dad was born in August – the 8^th month. And my mom departed this life in August the 8^th month of 2018. And she was 88 years old. And there are many other 8’s in my life. Remembering a card game called Crazy Eights. I started school in 1958. We lived in the 8^th house on Sweet Avenue. I was born at 8:23 AM. My birthday happened at the time of the year that is named Scorpio. I read that Scorpio is in the 8^th house. I don’t know what “the 8^th house” refers to in astrology. I moved into this big apartment building in 2008 and live on the 8^th floor. The first school I graduated from happened after we completed 8 grades. A girl in my class at St. Charles School who I Nev_Her forgot, came to Woonsocket High School and was in my homeroom in our junior year. It was September 1968. She was only there for a few weeks – and then she was gone. Her desk was diagonally across the classroom from my desk. Diagonal has 8 letters. She lived on Glen Road. There are 8 letters in Glen Road. She first came to St. Charles School in our 4^th year, 1961. I was 9 and she was only 8 years old in September. We were both in a play at the end of our 8^th grade. It was called “Queen of the Prom.” She portrayed the queen of the prom. 8 years after we graduated from St. Charles School in June of 1966, we met again in May of 1974. It happened with the Rhode Island Hikers Club. That hiking club met every Sunday somewhere in Rhode Island and we hiked. She and I had a romance that I call “The Summer of ’74.” I got the idea for the title after seeing the movie: “The Summer of ’42.” The following music is from that movie.
