I Saw Someone

Outside the Window of My Dad’s TV Shop . . .

Where I Worked When I Was a Young Teenager in the 1960s

And

The House of Brides Bridal Shop

Was Right Across the Street

However, when I saw her, I was no longer a teenager; and it was no longer the 1960s.

It was early August of 2024.

And I’m 72 now

And we were on the sidewalk.

And we began talking together.

And, later, I began having heart-felt thoughts about that young woman.

And I wrote a greeting card to her and put it in my pocket; and walked back there several times; hoping to see her again. The words on the card are these – the first two lines only.

The Name You First Told Me on Elm Street near the beginning of August.

I’m not mentioning it here in this public post, Nina,

For the sake of your privacy . . .

After meeting you again three days ago – on the 14^th of August — I walked in that neighborhood again the following three days – hoping to see you again. I had a greeting card with me which I wrote — for you – with these words:

“Nina, with your permission, I would love to be in love with you.”

Today, I walked in that neighborhood again.

And then, this evening, I walked there a second time.

It’s very unusual for me to take two long walks in one day.

I walked outside six times this week.

That is also very unusual.

I’m aware that by putting all this down in writing and posting it, some folks will think I’m desperate — or use some other words like “crazy” or “nuts.”

I still believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. I still believe on His name.

Writing is just something I do.

Maybe the Lord has His reasons for me doing this writing —

And putting personal things on my blog – confessions of love for a beautiful young woman lady.

Maybe the reason I haven’t seen you again, lately, is because you read my blog postings and felt understandably uncomfortable. Maybe you think: he doesn’t even know enough to keep private matters private. He lost it. He lost his mind. Maybe you don’t like that I wrote about you – and write about you again. Maybe you don’t like my age. And, maybe, you haven’t read my blog; maybe it doesn’t interest you at all. I understand that I’m only guessing. I don’t know anything. I can only imagine many possibilities – without knowing if any of them are real.

On my walk this evening, when I was on Cass Avenue – almost at the intersection of Cumberland Street, I found a dime; then just a few feet further, a quarter; then a penny; then another quarter. 61 cents total. I wondered how they got there; apparently someone dropped them; but why didn’t they notice they dropped 4 coins ? I don’t know. Maybe it could be the beginning of a new Hardy Boys Mystery story: “The Mystery of the Four Coins.” Maybe Nina dropped them there on Cass Avenue. Maybe Nina wants Mark to enter into the mystery of who she really is. Maybe Nina wants Mark to yearn for her in his heart – to yearn to see her again – to love her with all his heart and mind and soul and spirit – to become her true love “forever and ever. Amen.”

Nina . . . maybe if we ever kiss it will be as a breath of heaven filling our whole being with the Shekinah glory of True God . . . maybe we’ll be born again by the grace of God through faith in the Son of God and He will fill us with his Holy Spirit – His breath OV heaven.

My walk this evening took about one hour and 7 minutes. The walk taken earlier today – beginning at 11:46 AM – took about 52 minutes.

I especially like your other name – the first one you told me — the first time we met – “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” Nina — the name I didn’t get, at first. Now I wonder how it is spelled. And how many letters are in that name. It sounds poetic. It has a beautiful sound to it. And it is unique – to me. I never heard that name before in all my life. Your other name is deeply lovely, Nina. It touches me deeply inside. The last syllable of your other name — your three-syllable name — has a spiritual effect on me, Nina. It draws me . . . it draws my heart and soul to loving you, Nina. It makes the gates of my heart yearn to become open for you, Nina.

Psalm 24 tells us about gates and doors. And this year is 2024.

My heart wants to be in love with a lady. I can tell that Nina is a lady. She has grace.

It is something new for me now – to be taking walks in the hope of seeing you again. Before I met you for the first time about two weeks ago, all my walks were only for the reason of getting some healthy exercise. Now my walks are taken in the peaceful and graceful hope of seeing you again. And I keep the name of Jesus close to my heart as I walk; so that, even if I don’t see you, I may remain at peace; and my walks still have value. I’m okay this evening. I’m at peace. It is now 8:32 PM.

It is good for me to write this down. And it is also satisfying for me to post it on my blog. Maybe it will help encourage others to seek God in their lives. I hope it doesn’t upset you that I write and post like this. In the card I wrote for you is my email and phone number and address; so that if you want to write or talk to me, you can. I won’t put that information here in this writing that may be posted to my blog – just as I’m not posting your other first name – the one I especially like because of how it sounds to me – beautiful – just as you are lovely and beautiful, Nina.

The number 61 has significance in my life.

We moved into the house in the backyard on Sweet Avenue on the Saturday evening before Mother’s Day in 1961. It was May 13^th – and it was also the night before the 13^th anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel on May 14^th, 1948. So, the next morning, we as a family, all woke up for the first time in our new home on Mother’s Day and on the anniversary of Israel’s Statehood. And M is the 13^th letter of the alphabet. And Messiah and Mary and May and Morning and Mother all begin with an M.

And N — the first letter of Nina – immediately follows M in the alphabet – and is the 14th letter. And 14 is a Biblical number for many reasons. And I was born on the 14^th. And my middle name is David.

In the first book of The New Testament – in the first chapter — it is written:

“So all the generations from Abraham to David were fourteen generations, and from David to the deportation to Babylon fourteen generations, and from the deportation to Babylon to the Christ fourteen generations.”

“Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.” -Matthew 1: 17-18. ESV Study Bible.

Nina’s first name – the name not published here and now – begins with a J – just as the names Jesus and Joseph begin with a J. Maybe Jesus Lord and Savior is doing something in my heart, a work of love, perhaps, by stimulating my heart by way of the love for a lady, a lady of the Lord, a lady for the Lord, a lady to be as the bride of Christ to me – to bring me through this confused imagination and into the Light of Christ.
