Pray for a Miracle
Pray for Florida
As Jesus taught us to pray by going to our room and closing the door; and praying to our heavenly Father in secret.
What a miracle it would be if God answered our prayers for compassion on all living things in Florida. What a worldwide news story would be all over God’s Earth tomorrow if True God Almighty spoke His all-powerful word that commanded Hurricane Milton to just stop and be still – as when Jesus commanded the waves to be still when his disciples in the boat feared they were going to drown; and they awakened the Lord, and he stilled the storm.

The Mystery of Godliness
When I was in 3rd grade at St. Charles School reading my first Hardy boys story, The Secret Panel, I had no idea that a time would come when I would be writing about the greatest mystery in all the universe.
I read all 58 of The Hardy Boys Mystery Stories
Not One of them was about the mystery of godliness.
Even the Sherlock Holmes stories and Nancy Drew and Agatha Christie, and the TV series Mystery Woman and Columbo were not about the mystery of godliness.
The Bible, The Holy Scriptures – that’s where the mystery of godliness is found. Not many are interested in the mystery of godliness. They love the world and the things of the world instead of loving God. They’d rather enjoy the pleasures of sin and be devoted to all the idolatrous things of the world that are all passing away. So, they will pass away, too; they will never see the new heaven and the new earth; they will never be gloriously regenerated into newness of life. They will not inherit eternal life in Christ by believing the gospel of Jesus Christ. They’d rather remain earthy and natural. They don’t care to become holy and spiritual. They don’t want the Holy Spirit to become Sovereign in their heart. They don’t want true God to become central in their heart. They’d rather believe in themselves. They’d rather believe in their worldly religions and their own “good” works than to believe in true God and the gospel that is about Jesus Christ and His work of redemption for all. They would rather remain ego-centered than become Christ-centered.
“Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: ‘He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.” -1 Timothey 3: 16. ESV Study Bible.
“And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
that seeing they may see, and not perceive;
and hearing they may hear, and not understand;
lest at any time they should be converted,
and their sins should be forgiven them.” -Jesus. [Mark 4:11-12. KJV].

A personal mystery
Often when I feel like crying there is an accompanying sweet feeling. I think of it as “sweet sorrow.” Why should feeling like crying be sweet? I don’t know; but, I wonder: Could it be that the sweetness is the Holy Spirit of the Lord’s compassionate love that comforts me in sorrow?
“For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.” -2 Corinthians 7: 10. ESV Study Bible.

Imagine God hearing our prayers for all the living in Florida – and answering our prayers by speaking His All-Powerful Word to the hurricane – and it just died before reaching Florida ? Remember how God performed a miracle for Israel at the Red Sea, making it open up for His people Israel to walk on dry ground and escape the Egyptians who were coming after them ?
Imagine what faith in God this miracle of answering our prayers would awaken in millions of people all over the earth – that True God does hear our prayers and is willing and able to do great things for those who believe in Him and pray to Him in Jesus’ name.
