Michelle: “Mark, before you write one more word to me, I’d like to know how you write all this about me – about us – and about US ?”
Mark: “Maybe I’m just writing what is given to me to write. Maybe it’s almost like a secretary taking dictation. And maybe that’s how I write just about everything. So, it has become natural for me to write this way – or, perhaps – super natural (?).” John the Baptist said, “A man cannot receive even one thing except it be given him from heaven.” Therefore, maybe all this writing about you and me comes from heaven. I really hope so. It would be so wonderful and hopefully God-blessed if this love in my heart for you, Michelle, comes from heaven – and that our destiny is God Who IS Love and Light and Spirit. What a wonderful future we will share together in True God’s Love and His Eternal Life and continually made Alive in His Life and His Glory and His New Heavens and His New Earth and His Kingdom and His New Jerusalem.
Michelle: “Okay then, go ahead and write what you’ve been given to tell me, Mark.”
Mark: “Thank you, Michelle. Earlier today I began inserting more writing into the blog post named for you, Michelle, that was posted yesterday. Today is February 11th, 2025. It is my mother’s birthday. She would have been 95 today. She departed this life on August 15th, 2018. She was 88. Maybe 8 is my mother’s number, too. August is the 8th month. And my dad was born in late August.
Mark: “Michelle, I admit that I only know you as a lady cashier at the supermarket in Massachusetts.
In 1980 the valedictorian of Bellingham High School delivered her valedictorian address on June 6th. The next morning, it was published in The Woonsocket Call and I read it. And I wrote to her. And we corresponded by letters for more than two years.
I like to walk to the supermarket in Bellingham from Woonsocket. It only takes about 21 minutes to get there. I like walking. Sometimes, I run part of the way. There is a beautiful song by the Bee Gees titled:

My grandmother, Me mere Richer, had a cottage on the shore of Lake Hiawatha in Bellingham, Massachusetts – at 17 Lake Shore Drive. In her letters to me, the valedictorian asked me if I was related to the Richer’s who lived near her at Lake Hiawatha. That was how I learned where she lived. By the way, her family’s house address had the number 8; however, at that time [1980] I had not yet begun thinking that “8 is my number.” My grandfather, Donat Richer, who departed this life [February 1950] about a year-and-a-half before I was born built that house near the lake. I heard it was close to February 14th that he departed. My grandmother’s cottage beside the lake was where I first went on vacation and slept away from home when I was still a preschooler. In the summertime when we were young children, Me mere would have my sister Lesley and me and a few cousins stay with her and Aunt Estelle, her daughter, at her cottage for about 3 or four days and nights.
Michelle, I remember you noticing something in my shirt pocket last summer while checking out at the supermarket.
You wondered if it was a gift card.
I took them out of my pocket and showed them to you:
They were gospel tracts.
I offered to give you one.
You may have taken one.
Valentine’s Day is two days from today – February 12th.
I’m thinking about buying a gift card at the supermarket for you, Michelle.
If you permit me to do so ?
I would really like to do that – if it’s alright with you.”
(Imagining a conversation between us).
Michelle: “Why do you want to give me a gift card, Mark?”
Mark: “I want to be heart-to-heart with you, Michelle.”
Michelle: “And why do you want to be heart-to-heart with me, Mark?”
Mark: “It seems like that would be a good thing, a meaningful thing, to be in love with you,
Michelle.”
Michelle: “Why, Mark? What is so special about me to you ?”
Mark: “I feel in my heart that it would be meaningful to me to be heart-to-heart with you, Michelle.”
Michelle: “Heart-to-heart? Hmmm . . . Why, Mark?”
Mark: “Lately, whenever I’m at the check-out with you, Michelle, it seems very special to me – very real. And so, I believe my life would be more real if I am heart-to-heart with you, love. And I need someone like you to correspond with her.”
Michelle: “You like to be in correspondence with a girl, Mark?”
Mark: “Yes, I do, Michelle.”
Michelle: “What do you mean about “very real ?”
Mark: “Suppose a little sprout just happens to be planted very near a river of water in the valley where it lives; that river’s water makes the little sprout feel refreshed and renewed every moment of its life beside the river – because it is so near the river of the water of life that it feels itself being in the river –and being revived by its closeness to that river of the water of life.” He senses that it rejuvenates him.
I also need to be honest and real with you about me, MIchelle. I’m 73 now and I feel my age. I’m in pain every day now. It seems that my life may be drawing to a close – how soon, I don’t know. I haven’t seen a doctor or even a dentist in about 6-and-a-half years. And I haven’t gotten any mental health treatment and medications for an even longer period of time. So, I don’t know if I’m well enough to be entering into a love relationship with a woman. On the other hand, I suppose love can happen at any time in a person’s life; and, maybe, sometimes — when a person is most vulnerable — may be just the time that his heart begins to open at last. And the older I get the more vulverable I’m getting. I mean vulnerable. A song that the valedictorian of Bellingham High School wrote about in her Address to her class of 1980, The Rose, may illustrate this. Amanda McBroom wrote this beautiful song.”
Michelle: “Are you “a little sprout” at heart, Mark?”
Mark: “Yes, Michelle.”
Michelle: “And would you like me to be your personal gardener, Mark (little sprout)?”
Mark: “That would be so sweet to me, Michelle. I would love for you to be my gardener. My grandmother, Me mere Wilbur — who was also our landlady where we lived on Sweet Avenue — had a garden on her property every Spring and Summer and early Autumn. And a while ago, I was trying to take a nap, Michelle; and was thinking about our conversation right here. And I counted the letters of the word gardener. There are 8 letters in that word – just as there are 8 letters in your first name: Michelle. And since I don’t know your last name, I imagined it could be Gardener: Michelle Gardener. And, Michelle, if you were my gardener, I would love to be your evergreen little sprout in our garden – and try to grow up to be truly evergreen for you, Michelle – in Evergreen Love with You.”

The following song was not in her valedictorian address. I heard this song years later. And it’s such a heart-touching song . . . Many years ago, there was an optical shop in Woonsocket. It was near Monument Square and in The Stadium Building on the street level. I brought my glasses there once to have new lenses put in and actually met the proprietor, Barbara Allen. Years later, her name appeared on Facebook – perhaps it was at the Woonsocket: Past and Present Group page. I asked her if she had been the proprietor of that business and if her name really was Barbara Allen. She said, Yes and that it was her married name.

Mark: “My mother and sister and lover and bride and wife and true friend and helper and companion and confidante. Whenever I think of you, Michelle – and picture you in my heart – just as you appear to me at the store – I feel such eagerness in my heart for you, Michelle – that I just want to be heart-to-heart with you – and deeper and deeper in love with you every day – and with times of rest and sleep together – in perfect peace with you, Michelle, my love. Some other thoughts I have about you, Michelle . . .
There are 8 letters in your name.
And for years I’ve been thinking:
“8 is my number”
Because many things in my life have that number.
I started first grade in September 1958. I was 6 years old –
Until November when I turned 7.
Our class graduated from the 8th grade at St. Charles School in June of 1966.
We had grown up together . . .
From 6 year-olders to 14 year-olders — young teenagers.
I was disappointed that the 9th grade was eliminated just before our class would have entered it. We all had to part a year early. I would have been willing to stay right through high school together there at St. Charles School. The church building across from the school yard was at 8 Daniels Street.

The number on that house is 80; although we had lived the first 9-and-a-half years of my life in the triple-decker on the 3rd-floor in front of the house in the backyard – at 76 Sweet Avenue – our dear grandmother Dora Depot Wilbur’s property.
Scorpio is in the 8th house.
I was born very close to the middle of November
On the 14th day.
And exactly 9 months after February 14 – Valentine’s Day – is November 14th.
November has 8 letters.
In January of 2008 I moved into the high rise where I’m still living now.
On the 8th floor.
The symbol for Eternity looks just like the number 8 laying down.
It seems understandable that the symbol for Eternity should be laying down;
For Eternity deserves to enter His-Her Rest.

Mark: “Well, this writing was also written for all the world to read – on my blog; and maybe the Lord wants the whole world to be aware of His Word; so that we may all “prepare ye the way of the Lord. Make His paths straight.”
Michelle: “So, you believe this writing titled: Michelle is about more than just me and you, Mark ?”
Mark: “Yes Michelle.”
Michelle: “What do you want to do now, Mark ?”
Mark: “Well, it is now 12:07 AM on February 12 – which means it is Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, today. I would go to bed now and sleep; but, I’m not sleepy now; so, I have to wait a while. It wouldn’t do me any good to go to bed until I’m sleepy. I won’t fall asleep.”
Michelle: “And how are your pains now, Mark ?”
Mark: “I was very sleepy at about 8 PM and went to bed; and fell asleep right away; but for only about an hour; then I had to get up; and I had some oatmeal; and then the dental pain began to hurt; so, I took one Tylenol; and about 22 minutes later the pain lessened enough that I was willing to do some writing; so, I turned on this all-in-one computer and wrote more of this blog post to you for more than an hour.”
Michelle: “Mark, it seems that you are inspired to write to me as if I’m your correspondent – even though I’ve never written to you; and in reality, we have only met as cashier and customer at the supermarket a few times.”
Mark: “Yes, Michelle.”
Michelle: “And you don’t even know if I’m aware that you have a blog and are writing to me.”
Mark: “That’s all true, Michelle. And perhaps this is an example of faith.”
Michelle: “What do you mean, Mark ?”
Mark: “Maybe the past 47 years of being a born again Christian — living by the faith of the Son of God — has made His faith become so strong in me -– by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ and with the help of His Holy Spirit — that I can imagine things strongly enough and clearly enough to believe and create out of nothing – just as God created the heavens and the earth out of nothing – by His living word He spoke — and whatever He said immediately appeared and remained until this day – not that I am deliberately creating this writing – no, I’m not; it just happens very innocently. An idea comes to mind; and if it seems real enough to me, I begin writing what is occurring to me until it seems that it’s finished; and then I post it if it seems appropriate to do so.”
Michelle: “Mark, have you ever tried to create anything else by the grace of God and the faith of Jesus Christ and with and by the Helper, the Lord’s Holy Spirit?”
Mark: “No.”
Michelle: “Let’s try to do that, Mark. Let us try to take the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ to a level that is more real than writing.”
Mark: “Would you tell me more about this idea of yours, Michelle?”
Michelle: “Suppose you and I pray in our Lord Jesus’ Name: ‘Heavenly Father, let this relationship between Michelle and Mark become more real.”
Mark: “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. And let Michelle and Mark be in love and in real True God blessed relationship that gives glory to God our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior — by His Holy Spirit indwelling us and having Sovereignty over our lives – in Spirit soul and body –forever and ever. Amen in Jesus’ name.”
Michelle: “Amen. Mark, do you feel able to get married ?”
Mark: “Honestly, Michelle, I don’t feel able to do that now; however, it is possible that, if we begin seeing each other; and if my health does not continue deteriorating; but, instead, I begin feeling better – by the grace of God – it is possible that my confidence could be renewed and . . . and whether getting married or not – we could be in a real relationship with God’s blessings upon us. Exactly what form that relationship takes I believe only God knows. And in the gospel, Jesus said not to swear at all; so, maybe taking wedding vows is not appropriate. Matthew 5:33-37: Matthew 5:33-37 ESV – Oaths – “Again you have heard that it – Bible Gateway. Now, having said all that – I want to say, Yes, Michelle. I want to be married to you, True God willing. Yes Michelle, if you be willing. And Michelle, Springtime is coming – my favorite season of the year. If ever there is a Time for us to get married Spring is the Time – the renewal of all things. I like the name of the month April – but May is warmer and the flowers bloom in May; so, maybe May is the best month of Spring. And May starts with an M – just like Michelle and Mark start with an M. And even Maybe starts with an M. So, Maybe May is the best Month for Michelle and Mark to get Married Forever. Wondering now if there is a flower whose name starts with an M ?
