Could Michelle Rivering’s Love
End My Shivering ?
Michelle, would you wrap your warm arms around my shivering body ?
I still recall being in the ocean water at George’s Beach in Galilee in 1974.
And it was early summer; and yet, I was shivering so much I couldn’t pronounce my words clearly.
Eileen suggested I come out of the water.
Eileen also breathed into me as we stood on that beach.
And then I breathed into her.
It was a matter of a kiss and a breath –
Or actually
Two kisses and two breaths
It was only later that the memory and the meaning of those two kisses and two breaths began to dawn on me . . . gradually over the many years since then – almost 51 years later and still counting. And I was born in 1951.
When I go shopping in Bellingham, I pass the door of a restaurant that used to be a De ’Angelos Sandwich Shop. 54 is the number on the door. In 1989 on May 13th, I met Eileen there. 15 years after that “Summer of ‘74” romance. We had lunch there. 5 days earlier we met on May 8th. Eileen was doing a Catholic Charity Fund Drive and just happened to be in the hallway of a house where I lived on Carrington Avenue. I walked through the front door and saw Eileen. I was surprised. I said, “Eileen. Eileen.” She told me to call her; so, later, I went to a pay phone and called her. We made a date. The lunch went well. We had a nice time and conversation; but, when I called her again, it didn’t go well. So, we only saw each other again by happenstance: at the library, at the supermarket. And we would say Hi and not much else.
Michelle,
Would you wrap your arms around my shivering; so
I’m not quivering in your Rivering ?
I know, it’s a mysterious request.
Maybe it reflects the mysteriousness of our lives on earth.
I’m not suggesting your River is cold as ocean water is to me in early summer, Michelle.
I just like to imagine that your arms are so warm to me that even in the ocean waters of Galilee, I’ll be able to speak clearly and enjoy warm loving thoughts because of you being all around me – especially your arms being around me.
In fact, I believe you are warm and your arms are warm.
I know there is something special about you.
I don’t know what that specialness is.
It may be something spiritual.
It may be love.
Maybe our zodiac signs are very compatible.
I’m not an expert about astrology.
You just seem to be someone very special for me.
I believe that specialness has to do with love and relationship and connecting.
“He who finds a wife finds a good thing
and obtains favor from the LORD.” -Proverbs 18: 22. ESV Study Bible.
Wouldn’t it be a blessing to get married and obtain the favor of the LORD ?
I’d love to discover what His favor means in our daily life together as husband and wife.
Your whole spirit soul and body are warm.
I never touched you.
So, I don’t know yet how warm you are.
I believe you are warm and that the favor of the LORD will be merciful to us.
I just believe it spiritually in my heart and mind and soul and body and imagination.
The words just came to me – that’s all.
I don’t know the meaning of the following words.
I thought of them because of the word ring in a song.
