Flights of Fancy of an Imaginary Mind
Sometimes the mind takes flight like a bird.
This is only an imaginary story.
In a Spiritual Moment with Michelle . . .
In a Magical Moment with Michelle . . .
In One Moment in Time with Michelle . . .
Was just sitting down in my mother’s green rocking chair in my apartment.
The rocking chair had been in the living room of my mother’s house in the backyard of 80 Sweet Avenue many years ago. I lived in that house with mom and dad and all of us 7 children in the 1960s.
And as I sat there sipping cold tea with soymilk from the supermarket where Michelle works – and the tea was also bought at that supermarket – I was imagining being at the store today; and seeing Michelle working at customer service — while I’m in the cashier’s line paying for my groceries. And I have this notion to stop by at the customer service counter to look upon the face of Michelle – and maybe hear the sound of her voice again for the first time in a long time. She avoids me whenever I am in the store. And I don’t blame her at all. Why would she care to be bothered by such an old fool as me at 73 ?
So, in this imagining, as I take up my bags at the cashier counter and begin walking away, I stop at the customer service counter; and just wait a moment – to see if Michelle will look at me; and our eyes will meet – for one magical moment – and maybe Michelle will speak a word or two to me.
Michelle: She glances at me. “What do you want, Mark.”
Mark: “I just wanted to see your face, Michelle.”
Michelle: “Why ?”
Mark: “I want to then walk home with the memory that you looked at me; and our eyes met for one moment in time; and you said something to me; and your voice – through your words – entered my ears and my brain and my heart and my soul and even my spirit. And I want to be able to “see” your face again – as it abides in my memory – and just enjoy that everlasting memory of this “picture of your face and your living voice” Michelle that has entered me and will abide with me forever and ever. Amen.”
Michelle: “Alright Mark, you may go now with this memory abiding in your heart forever and ever. Amen.”
So, I just walk away without saying another word.

And then, as I am walking away and approaching the exit door, I feel a light tap on my shoulder. I turn and see Michelle beside me.
Michelle: “Why am I so significant to you, Mark ?”
Mark: “Your face, Michelle, is so beautiful to me that my heart is touched so significantly by you.”
Michelle: “Can you tell me more about this significance you experience concerning me, Mark ?”
Mark: “It is deep and heartfelt and sweet and transformative and regenerative and so lovely, Michelle. It’s like the song.”
Michelle: “What song ?”

In 1971, I moved into my first apartment at 162 Papineau Avenue at 19 years old; I played this album, Tapestry, by Carole King, very many times during my 20s and maybe my 30s. There might be a heart-felt tapestry in my heart, too, now . . . At the 37:34 mark in the Tapestry album may be heard the song: Tapestry. I guess it can be described as mystical.
What follows in this blog seems to be completely separate from what is before it. The first part is all about Michelle. The last part is Biblical. Maybe the Michelle part is all natural; and the Biblical part is all Spiritual. And, maybe, if I didn’t have the Spiritual part then the natural part would undo me.
When mortal men try to do anything great by mortal means they always create monstrosities – because all of man’s abilities lack the Spirit of God and the Grace of God and the Wisdom of God and the Righteousness of God and the Love of God and the Faith of the Son of God. The tower of Babel event recorded in the Bible is an example of mankind without God doing evil things. And the man of lawlessness in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 ESV is another-as-yet-to-be-fulfilled example of the wickedness of man in the world doing evil.
