There Is Something Mysterious About Us All
Women Get Me
Thinking
And
Wondering
And
Imagining
And
Writing . . .
There Is Something Mysterious About Them . . .
Something Wonderous . . .
Something Puzzling . . .
Something Secretive . . .
I’m currently reading a Nancy Drew Story
The Mystery at Lilac Inn
I like the picture on the cover.
There are two pretty young women in a scene at night.
They seem to be suddenly seeing each other
The full moon enraptured by clouds is in the dark blue night sky behind Nancy
There is a lilac tree to the left of Nancy in her light-yellow dress
She looks pretty
And the other young lady with black hair is also pretty.
I wish I was a mystery that Nancy’s heart was interested in solving.
Nancy’s Mysterious Mark
Nancy’s Secret Friend Mark
A different kind of mystery
Not a worldly mystery
But a personal mystery
A Mystery of Love
A Lovely Mystery
A Mystery of the Heart
Nancy Meets a Mysterious Young Man
I wish I was as young as Nancy
Nancy’s Mysterious Man
A pen-and-ink sketch at the beginning – just before Chapter One
Shows Nancy at a party – well, it seems to be a party. I haven’t gotten that far in the story; only on page 40 so far.
And the words below the picture are:
“Suddenly a panel in the wall slid open.”
In third grade at St. Charles School, we were taken to the school library on the third floor to be introduced to that room of books for the first time. I walked around the room looking at the many books on the shelves. I found a collection of Hardy Boys Mystery Stories. I remembered seeing episodes of a Hardy Boys Mystery on TV every night on The Mickey Mouse Club Show years before entering first grade. Something about Mr. Applegate and a tower treasure. I took down from the shelf one of the many stories about Frank and his younger brother Joe Hardy:
The Secret Panel – Number 25 in the series of 58 books.
I took it home and read it all.
The First Hardy Boys story I ever read.
As I was reading the story at home, I discovered something wonderful to me:
I could imagine in my mind’s eye the scenes I read in the story.
It was like discovering a new sense within me — the eye sight of the imagination.
A sense within . . .
A Spiritual Sense
A Secret Sense
Maybe faith is something like that –
Believing in something – or Someone — you can’t see with your eyes.
Into another reality – not of this world.
“Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would be no longer enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.” -Romans 6: 3-11 ESV Study Bible.

“Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God. For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death. But now we are released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit and not in the old way of the written code.” -Romans 7: 4-6 ESV Study Bible.

“There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” -Romans 8: 1-4 ESV Study Bible.

So, now at almost 74 I’m noticing that word panel in both stories:
The Mystery at Lilac Inn
And
The Secret Panel
I’d like to imagine a new story in which Nancy Drew is in a room all alone –
Maybe it’s her bedroom.
And a secret panel opens . . .
And She beholds a man standing there in another room . . .
And their eyes meet – for the first time.
And Nancy finds that mysterious man so interesting that her heart is touched by his appearance. She wonders who he is and why he is there in that secret room – just barely beyond her own bedroom –that the sliding panel reveals to her. And then the sliding panel moves again; and he becomes hidden from her sight.
Nancy reflects upon what just happened. She realizes that this mysterious occurrence has captured – not only her mind – but also her heart. She wants to meet that mysterious man again. She wants to dance with him. She wants to be in his arms. She wants to be in love with him for the first time in all her life – in love with a man – not just a mystery – but a man of mystery.

Nancy discovers the man beyond the panel is a writer of imaginings.
She begins reading his many writings
And learns much about him.
She wants so much to move that panel again
And see him
And step into his room.
And speak to him
And hear his voice for The First Time.

Read in the Bible that holy men of God were inspired to write the words of Holy Scripture.
“And we have something more sure, the prophetic word, to which you will do well to pay attention, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” -2 Peter 1: 19-21 ESV.

Wondering if there is a connection between women who get me writing and the Holy Spirit — Who got the writers of the books of the Bible writing.
“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech
And night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words,
Whose speech is not heard.
Their voice goes out through all the earth,
And their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
Which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
And, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.” -Psalm 19: 1-5 ESV Study Bible.

“But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.” -Hebrews 9: 11, 12 ESV.
