The Spirit of Antagonism Is Against Good Government
From my windows I can see an anti-government graffiti painted on the Mill River Bridge over East School Street in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. I first noticed it looking through the windows of my apartment – with my dad’s binoculars — at John F. Kennedy Manor many months ago.
There is a lot of antagonism and anti-government feeling in the United States of America, lately. And it is growing. However, the people who walk in spiritual darkness are unable to discern clearly. They are unable to understand that our government is not bad.
Their problem is that they believe in themselves – rather than believing in True God. And thus, they believe that they are never wrong. They have the spirit of self-righteousness. No matter how wicked and sinful the people are, they believe in themselves.
Here are some things that self-righteous believers-in-themselves people do.
They take public prayer out of the public schools.
They take faith in True God out of the public discourse.
They try to diminish the teaching of English in the public schools.
They increase the wealth of The Few.
They diminish the wealth of The Many.
They diminish the National Government.
They shut down the government.
They increase the corporate state and the power of the corrupt corporate state over the government.
Government isn’t doing those things. People and their politics are doing them.
Without the Light that Christ gives those who believe in Him, people cannot discern between government that is good and politics that is bad.
“Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
“If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.” -Galatians 5: 19-26 ESV Study Bible.

Without faith in True God people cannot see that only True God is right —

Good government needs True God’s help —
Just as a garden needs the help of sunshine and water. A garden needs more than a gardener. It needs things that only True God can provide.
For example:
True God provides all of us with the Earth.
As inhabitants on God’s good earth, we ought to acknowledge Him and become acquainted with Him; and learn to live according to His good will for us; otherwise, we are easily led astray. And there are many who are led astray; and they are in error; and they lead many others astray. They lead the Country astray.

“For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” -1 John 5: 4, 5. ESV Study Bible.

“For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.” -Acts 2: 39-41 ESV Study Bible.

About that anti-government graffiti on the bridge:
“But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,
“Awake, O sleeper,
And arise from the dead,
And Christ will shine on you.” -Ephesians 5: 13-14. ESV Study Bible.
That graffiti got me thinking about government — and the error of the one who wrote words against government.
Government is not the problem.
And if you wonder what words he wrote . . .
They were merely words of contempt.
God bless that one to awaken from sleep; and the Light of the gospel of Christ and the kingdom of God to shine on him.

“For to us a child is born,
To us a son is given;
And the government shall be upon his shoulder,
And his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace
There will be no end,
On the throne of David and over his kingdom,
To establish it and to uphold it
With justice and with righteousness
From this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.” -Isaiah 9: 6, 7. ESV Study Bible.
