“Imagining the Return of Eileen the First”

Imagining the Return of Eileen the First

Yesterday, I was recalling a novel we read in high school, by Thomas Hardy:

“The Return of the Native”

Later, I began imagining the return to Woonsocket of my first-grade classmate:

Eileen the First

A Wonderful Imagining

Of

Eileen the First

Eileen Gaouette

GAO

Government Accounting Office

I was taking a correspondence course many years ago in business management

And learned a bit about some acronyms – such as GAO.

Later, I noticed that Eileen the First’s last name had the same first three letters as:

Government Accounting Office

A Federal Agency concerned with accounting matters.

Later, I imagined some other words to represent the 8 letters of Eileen’s last name:

God Alpha Omega Union Eternal True Treasure Everlasting

8 Promising Words that may all be characteristic of

The Coming Kingdom of God

The wonderful imagining I was having went like this:

I was imagining Eileen Gaouette writing to me and telling me she wants to meet me again. And she proposes that our first meeting in about 67 years should happen like this:

I’m on Sweet Avenue looking up the hill of Stanley Avenue –

Just as I was doing at 7 years old when she came walking down that street on the last day of first grade in June of 1959.

And Eileen comes walking down the hill of Stanley Avenue with two attendants –

One on either side of Her

And when she reaches Sweet Avenue, she crosses the street

And walks right to me.

She says,

“Hi Mark.”

“It’s been such a long time since last we saw each other.”

“We were only 7 years old . . .”

“In fact, I believe that you and I never said a word to each other during first grade in 1958 and ’59. We were silent classmates. Our time had not yet come, Mark.”

“I’ve always wanted to see you again, Eileen.”

“Why, Mark?”

“You are very special in my heart, Eileen.”

“I have an imagining of you walking down Stanley Avenue. And you cross the street and walk to me – just as we are doing now.”

“And then what happens ?”

“I ask you what happened to you since first grade.”

“My family moved away, Mark.”

“Well, thanks be to True God, Eileen, that you have returned.”

“And that your life has been continuing all these years.”

“God has blessed you, Eileen.”

“He created you beautifully and everlastingly.”

I believe that only after the regeneration of all things will we who believe in Him experience:  A Blessed Life in Christ.

We are still in-waiting for the Second Coming of Christ our Lord in Glory.

And

The glorious renewal of all things in Him.
