Ashley, I Would So Love to Be Friends with You
I went to bed at almost 10:00 PM
Slept about 90 minutes.
Woke up and started this new day at about 11:30 PM
Guess we might call it the eve of March 2nd.
Now it’s 1:12 AM
It’s really March 2nd now, Ashley.
Somehow, when I think of you and type your name, I have a notion that Ashley is a pseudonym. So, I then wonder what your real name is.
I’d like to tell you everything, Ashley.
And…
I’d like to listen to everything you could tell me about your life.
“The Life of Ashley”
I remember you dropping your smartphone on the hard floor at the bank.
I got the impression you drop it often.
When we left Burger King, I remember telling you I was on the track and cross country teams in high school; and I asked you if you were into sports in school. I think you said, No. I told you we ran at Cass Park. You said something favorable about the new athletic fields being built there. I prefer Cass Park the way it used to be – when it was more natural – the way I remember it as a young child.
I miss you, Ashley – as if you are a long lost friend — the dearest friend of my childhood. You told me at Burger King that you like walking. I’d like to walk with you to Sweet Avenue. And as soon as you and I walk down Sweet Avenue for the first time – you will become a real part of my dearest memories of Sweet Avenue, Ashley. Sweet Avenue is where I grew up; but walking with you for “The First Time” on Sweet Avenue will be when I finally “Come of Age” on the street where we walk hand-in-hand.
Maybe all my memories will become “a thing of the past” when I’m with you on Sweet Avenue.
“When I’m with You on Sweet Avenue”
All Things Will Become New…
Newness of Life
Will Be in the Air
Your Presence, Ashley
Will Enliven Everything
Maybe we won’t have to talk much, love . . .
Spiritual things will be happening to us. . .
And within us . . .
Glorious Spiritual Things
