Recently my brother Todd – my youngest of 4 brothers – became my big brother. He helped me when I couldn’t help myself. I had a terrible toothache. I had no dentist – didn’t know who to call. Part of my Medicare insurance wasn’t being paid – because I had despaired of healthcare and healthcare insurance. Todd got an appointment for me at Aspen. [My one-and-only new car in 1979 was an Aspen.] Todd brought me there in his beautiful pickup truck with comfortable seats. In about 48 hours the toothache was gone. Also learned there that I had a bacterial infection – from another tooth that had broken down and broken off a while ago. So, now I’m on an anti-biotic – no longer on pain relievers every 3-and-a-half hours. The people at Aspen were all beautiful. Many of them had first names that began with a J – like Jesus. Jocelyn was the first one. She did 18 X-rays of my-teeth. She was so sweet and kind. I had to tell her between X-rays of the young girl in my neighborhood when I was just a little boy – her name was Jocylyn, too. She was about the same age as my 20-month-older sister, Lesley. She and her family moved away from the Sweet Avenue neighborhood when we were all so very young.
All the people at Aspen were very lovely.
There was also Jenny. And Andrea. And the office manager’s first name also began with a J. I remember her, too. I just can’t recall her name with my memory that is getting older – just as my teeth are also aging and failing. I remember each one of you – just can’t remember each name. Remember the dentist, too. He took out the two teeth that were hurting me. Thank you Doctor Kim.
