“The Lady of the Valley”
Chapter Three
Lily and Stone
Lily: “I have to go now, Stone. This is the longest I’ve been away from home since I was a child. I’m getting lonely for home.”
Stone: “When will I see you again, Lily?”
Lily: “I don’t know, Stoney. When would you like to see me again, friend?”
Stone: “In two minutes.”
Lily: “I can’t come back in two minutes, Stone. It’s gonna’ take me an hour just to get back to the other side of the mountain . . . I mean, the hill.”
Stone: “Would you call me, Lily?”
Lily: “I don’t have a phone, Stone.”
Stone: “Well, then, just close your eyes and call my name and I’ll be there.”
Lily: “How can you do that, Stone?”
Stone: “Carole King shows us how in her song: “You’ve Got A Friend.” It goes like this . . . “
Lily: “OK Stone. I’ll call you.”
Stone: “Thanks Lily. I’ll be listening for the sound of your voice speaking to my heart.”
Lily: “You may call me, too, Stone. I’ll be listening, also. And I just might come back in person, too. And in a big way.”
Stone: “What do you mean, Lily?”
Lily: “Just listen to this song in your heart, Stone: “She’ll Be Coming Around the Mountain.”

“My heart is stirred by a noble theme
As I write my verses for the king;
My tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.
You are the most excellent of men
And your lips have been anointed with grace,
Since God has blessed you forever.
Gird your sword upon your side,
O mighty one;
Clothe yourself with splendor and majesty.
In your majesty ride forth victoriously
In behalf of truth, humility and righteousness;
Let your right hand display awesome deeds.
Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king’s enemies;
Let the nations fall beneath your feet.
Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
A scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
You love righteousness and hate wickedness;
Therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
By anointing you with the oil of joy.
All your robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia;
From palaces adorned with ivory
The music of the strings makes you glad.
Daughters of kings are among your honored women;
At your right hand is the royal bride in gold of Ophir.
Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear:
Forget your people and your father’s house.
The king is enthralled by your beauty;
Honor him, for he is your lord.
The Daughter of Tyre will come with a gift,
Men of wealth will seek your favor.
All glorious is the princess within her chamber;
Her gown is interwoven with gold.
In embroidered garments she is led to the king;
Her virgin companions follow her
And are brought to you.
They are led in with joy and gladness;
They enter the palace of the king.
Your sons will take the place of your fathers;
You will make them princes
Throughout the land.
I will perpetuate your memory
Through all generations;
Therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever.”
-Psalms 45:1-17. NIV Study Bible.
When Will I See You Again with lyrics
Concerning Suffering
“Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” -Romans 5:1-5. ESV Study Bible.
