A Romantic Imagining
I miss Eileen so much that my heart begins to imagine sweet fantasies of meeting her again.
Someone may ask: Why do you keep thinking about someone who doesn’t write back to you; doesn’t text back to you; doesn’t call you; doesn’t anything you? Aren’t you the least bit bitter over being totally ignored?
Answer: Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. No.
What does that mean?
The Lord warns me not to go into excruciating details in answering your reasonable questions; and He also warns me by His Spirit speaking to my heart “in a still small voice” to remain in His Love and Peace rather than falling into anger and mean-spiritedness and unforgiveness and vengefulness.
“Eileen of Green Glen in the Meadows of Mark”
I guess there is more to Mary than there is to mark. Eileen has a beautiful daughter named Mary. I don’t know if Eileen named her daughter after her Aunt Mary whom I never met. Eileen just mentioned her Aunt Mary once to me back in the days of the summer of ’74. Eileen’s daughter is married. I never met Eileen’s daughter, either.
Mary has two syllables – mark has only one. Maybe that is a sign that Mary is more than Mark.
Years ago, Eileen lived on a lovely road in the North End: Glen Road
I mean she lived in a lovely white house on that road – not on the road itself – like a toad.
Carole King – Tapestry [HD]
Sometimes I’ve wondered which side of the house Eileen’s room overlooked.
Could you see the sunrise or the sunset; or the backyard or Glen Road from your window?
After being classmates for 5 years, we went to different schools and did not see each other much for 8 years – from 1966 when we graduated from 8th grade, until 1974 when we met again with the Rhode Island Hikers Club in May of that year. We were good friends that Spring and Summer until about mid-August. Then we were apart again.
Now, I’m 69 and missing her so much that I write to her — and about her. I imagine many might think less of me for writing about Eileen. “What a low-life he must be — telling the world about his girlfriend! I’d never have anything to do with him, either. He can’t keep a thing to himself. What a blabber-mouth! What a fool on the hill!”
“So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops.” -Matthew 10:26, 27. ESV Study Bible.

Today, the following imagining came to heart and mind.
Mark: “Eileen, I’ve been thinking of you – remembering you living on Glen Road so many years ago; and was having this fantasy of us making a date to meet there again for the first time since August 1974 – when we returned from Montreal, Canada. My dad gave us a ride back to Woonsocket from the Providence bus station that late Sunday afternoon – with the whole family in the car. That was the last time we were together that “summer of ’74.” Eileen, what if we agreed to meet there on, say . . . March 17th — St. Patrick’s Day — a Wednesday [the day I was born; the day you called me on May 27th, 2020; the day your daughter was born in 1977] – right in front of the white house with the gables where you used to live a long, long time ago? Maybe “the luck of the Irish” would bless us on that special day. Maybe it would be a blessed reunion. I would just love to see you there again, Eileen — “Shakespeare’s Sonnet 116 House” — because of the number 116. Maybe we could even hold hands and walk down Glen Road together. I believe walking hand-in-hand with you would be a life-changing experience for both us. Remember our last phone conversation in August of ’74? You said of my request that we make a date to go to El Toro Lounge: “We could . . . we could – but it wouldn’t change anything.” I was discouraged by your lack of enthusiasm; so, I replied. “I guess it wouldn’t; OK, Eileen, I hope things go well for you.” “I hope things go well for you, too, Mark.” Or we might cross the street where that white house is and take Oakley Road to Meadow Road; or just walk down Glen Road to Upland Road. At that point, I don’t know if you would like to walk on Harris Avenue and go all the way to Cold Spring Park; or take a right on Upland Road and walk to Woodland Road and then to Spring Street and back to Glen Road. It’s a rather steep walk up Glen Road hill at that point. Do you feel up to climbing that hill, Eileen — at our age in our late 60s? It might be like hiking with the hikers club again, for the first time since 1974 – only we aren’t 21 and 22 anymore in the vivacious prime of our lives.
Eileen, a new name for you came to mind today that has a nice sound to it – a nice ring to it:
There are 7 e’s in the name “Eileen Evergreen.”
7 is a spiritual number . . .
One Is The Loneliest Number – Three Dog Night (Lyrics)
While listening to the above song [Evergreen] I really felt like crying. I don’t mind, though — feeling like crying; there is something sweet in that feeling for me. Maybe it has something to do with “melt my heart like April snow” that is sung in the song: “The Twelfth of Never.”
ANDY WILLIAMS – THE TWELFTH OF NEVER
Eileen, about vengeance. I recall reading something on your Facebook page that included a picture of Tom Brady and something about vengeance – “either in this life or the next.” Well, My Love, if you have any angry thoughts about me and you ever want to have your vengeance on me, I know just the thing for you to do that would really satisfy your desire for that: Write to me, Eileen, in kindness and peace and friendship. Love is my greatest weakness, Eileen. Truthfulness is also my weakness; so, if you wrote to me in Love and Truth, it would just break my heart and crack it open like an eggshell – with a little chick inside, maybe. It just might break your own heart open with joy and laughter if and when you see a little chick come out of his shell all by his lonesome – shaking himself off and blinking his eyes to see for the first time in his life – probably looking for his mother. And what if you just petted his little head gentle as can be? Maybe he would really like that. Wouldn’t that give you enormous satisfaction, Eileen? – to see me crying with an open broken heart for you, Eileen? Love, they say, is the most powerful force in the universe. What might happen, Eileen, by the power of Love?

“Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all and in all.” -Colossians 3:11 ESV Study Bible.
Eileen, wouldn’t it be lovely for us to be in the New Jerusalem someday; and to see the river of the water of life flowing down that golden street? And to sit beside that river, together, in love and peace; and to be at home there, forever?

ON THE STREET WHERE YOU LIVE
“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be anything cursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.” -Revelation 22:1-5.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!
Eileen, would you please believe the gospel of Jesus Christ so that you will be completely saved?
THAT WAY, it may come to pass that – after these human lives we are now living are over, you and I may both live in His Kingdom – and perhaps – He may give us [He may have already given us] residence in the Heavenly Jerusalem; and then we may be able to walk in the City of God – on that golden street; and sit by the river of the water of life – you and me, Eileen. And since we will be regenerated with glorious new bodies reflecting the Shekinah glory of God Who will be in all His New Creation, it will be so lovely to enjoy His/your presence.

Your Presence is Heaven with Lyrics
“Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain, beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth,
Mount Zion, in the far north,
The city of the great King.
Within her citadels God
Has made himself known as a fortress.” -Psalm 48:1-3 ESV Study Bible.

GOD’S WAY OF SALVATION (JOHN 3:16)
What seems to you to be the first sign of Spring here in New England?
Is it the yellowing of the forsythia bushes at the Woonsocket Library?
Or the sudden appearance of Robins?
Perhaps, for me, Eileen, the first sign of Spring in my heart will be whenever you write or speak to me again.
It seems like Winter to me when you are as silent as Silent Night
Sinéad O’Connor – Silent Night [Official Music Video]
Will you write to me, Eileen?
Eileen, will you live in His Love?
Let His Spirit be in you, Eileen – so that you have love to share with those who love you; so that, by His Spirit, you may write and speak genuinely and authentically and peacefully – rather than being so silent for so long. Silence isn’t the only thing, Eileen.

“Jesus answered her, ‘If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” -John 4:10 ESV Study Bible.
“For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.” – Galatians 5:5, 6. ESV Study Bible.
Wake up, Sleeping Beauty!
Open your eyes, Eileen.
Let the eyes of your understanding open . . .
Is there anything you would like to write?
Is there anything you would like to say?
Why don’t you, Eileen?
Come back to life, Eileen.
The dead are silent;
Is that why I don’t hear from you, Eileen?
Old stone walls deep in the woods are silent;
Is that where your heart is, Eileen?
Far away and deep in the woods – all by itself?
I Am a Rock – Simon & Garfunkel Lyrics
Eileen, be a lively stone – but not a rock.
