God Only Knows

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” -Colossians 3:17 ESV Study Bible.

“If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, he is known by God.” -1 Corinthians 8:2, 3. ESV Study Bible.

O God our heavenly Father, may we be counted with those who love You and are known by You – and receive Your mercy and forgiveness in our Lord Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Maybe this writing is just a matter of clearing the threshing floor of its chaff – before the Lord’s Holy Spirit comes and burns it all up with unquenchable fire.

“I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.” -Matthew 3:11, 12. ESV Study Bible.

Was just thinking about the issue of the flesh, the matter of the flesh, I mean.

Not to go into excruciatingly explicit detail about it . . . maybe it should be dealt with sort of euphemistically or figuratively – like the parables.

On opening day of the fishing season, a young boy puts a worm on a hook and casts it into the pond on a fishing line. He’s fishing for trout. This word picture may be like a moral picture of how things are at times in the so-called civilized world. We humans have a strong tendency to get hooked on so many things that are not what they appear to be. Maybe to a naive trout that worm looks tempting; and maybe he can’t see the hook hidden within the equally-poor worm’s appearance. Maybe the worm-on-a-hook looks very delicious to that trout. If he bites it and tries to run with it, though, he immediately and horrifically finds he’s been caught. He’s lost his freedom.

And another thing: shouldn’t we wake up and consider what an unspeakable evil it is in the sight of God — Who is Love and Light and Spirit – and Who made man in His own image – male and female He created them –that the ungodly unbelievers do having their unborn babies butchered to death in the womb by the multi-millions over many decades; and medical insurance companies paying those who do it? And all of that has been made legal under the laws of mankind. And they legalize so many other ungodly things, besides. Only the unbelievers whose minds have been veiled by the god of this age are blind to the truth of God’s Word and to the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ; and are unable to see that the whole world lies in wickedness; and the days are evil; and the wrath of God is coming to punish the world.
