“Eileen . . . “

Sunday, February 6th, 2022. 8:44 AM. The 44th Anniversary of The Blizzard of ’78. More snow fell in Woonsocket, Rhode Island during that great snowstorm than anywhere else. 55 inches.

Eileen

Eileen means light – but beware

There is true light and there is false light

“And what I do I will continue to do, in order to undermine the claim of those who would like to claim that in their boasted mission they work on the same terms as we do. For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.” -2 Corinthians 11:12-15. ESV Study Bible.

I don’t like Eileen anymore.

Maybe I love her

But I don’t like her

Nope

This writing is to bring out into the light something – like wet clothes being put out on a clothesline to be  dried in the Son’s Light and in the Wind of His Spirit.

Jesus said, “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” -Matthew 10:34-39. ESV Study Bible.

“And he said to them, ‘Is a lamp brought in to be put under a basket, or under a bed, and not on a stand? For nothing is hidden except to be made manifest; nor is anything secret except to come to light.” -Mark 4:21, 22.

Eileen and Mark were 21 and 22 in 1974. That “summer of ‘74” seems like “The Summer of ’42” – which is a novel and a movie. And here is something else that seems curious to him — some of it sounds right; however, it is not the gospel of Jesus Christ as revealed in The New Testament. It speaks much more about the name of Deborah than the name of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. So, I don’t know about the following:

Spoken Prophetic Word // The Mantle of Deborah

“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel – not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.” -Galatians 1:6-9. ESV Study Bible.

Galatians 1-6

Mark: “Eileen . . .  continuing our August 1974 conversation on the phone that seemed to me to bring to an end “the summer of ‘74” romance. And yet something is continuing . . . You said on the phone to me in reply to my suggestion for a date — after you and your family had returned to Woonsocket after your family’s summer vacation at the cottage on Great Island near Galilee, R.I. was over:

Eileen: “We could . . . we could [go to El Toro Lounge in North Smithfield. It was in the basement of The Village Haven restaurant] but it wouldn’t change anything.”

The rest of the conversation is imaginary

Mark: “Is there another place we could go where the change you referred to would happen? And what change do you speak of?”

Eileen: “Mark, I just cannot speak directly to those questions about what I said.”

Mark: “Why can’t you, Eileen?”

Eileen: “I just can’t tell the truth about the things in my heart, Mark?”

Mark: “Why, Eileen?”

Eileen: “I’m not free in my spirit to speak that way.”

Mark: “Why not, Eileen?”

Eileen: “Only after receiving Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior will He send His Spirit into my heart — the Spirit of truth, the Spirit of understanding – the Comforter the Counselor the Helper —  by Whom I will be free in my spirit — being helped by His Spirit – and be comforted and at peace and with His good courage – and thus be enabled to speak truthfully to you, Mark — my classmate of 5 years at St. Charles School — and my friend for about 3-and-a-half months during “the summer of ‘74” when I kissed you, Mark, as we stood on the sand of George’s Beach in Galilee, R.I. that romantic summer – just across the breech way from Jerusalem, R.I. — and breathed into you — and then we kissed once more and you breathed into me. And you never forgot me, Mark – because you love Eileen so much. You’re just captivated by her, aren’t you, Mark? Your heart just yearns for her. She is so special to you. That very pretty girl in your class who lived on Glen Road in the North End of Woonsocket, Rhode Island in the 1960s. You just can’t get over her. You just can’t forget her. Maybe the Lord God bound your heart to hers;  and so you’re in love with her. And maybe, Mark, that will never change. Maybe it is ordained by True God and His True Love for me, Eileen Ann. And you even love my name, don’t you, Mark? You just love the name Eileen Ann – and the person that name belongs to. Maybe, Mark, that is my problem with you. You just don’t change. And I seek change. So, it . . . it just does something to me this unchanging love that you have for me. I just can’t change it. And I can’t fathom it, either – as long as I am not a born again Christian; for, without Jesus’ Holy Spirit in my heart I cannot see nor enter the kingdom of God. I remain in the darkness.”

John 3

John 14-17

Mark: “Well, Eileen, when you let the Lord Jesus into your heart you will be changed by Him — and then you will have this change that you seek. And you will have peace and satisfaction in your heart by His grace in you comforting you by His Spirit in you, the hope of glory.”

“I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory.’ ‘O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?’ The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” -1 Corinthians 15:50-58 ESV Study Bible.

2 Corinthians 3:12-18.

“Since we have such hope, we are very bold, not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze at the outcome of what was being brought to an end. But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away. Yes, to this day whenever Moses is read a veil lies over their hearts. But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” -2 Corinthians 3:12-18. ESV Study Bible.

 Time For A Change?

“To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.” -Colossians 1:27-29. ESV Study Bible.
