Time and Eternity

April 18^th, 2026.

In discipleship class once upon a time the Assistant Pastor – Pastor Raymond Shepherd – asked me, “How do you think ?”

Mark: “Logically,” I replied. He gave me a look like as if to say, “Ya right.” The following week I didn’t attend his discipleship class. I stayed with the congregation, instead.

I’ve noticed I can’t remember the time anymore. For example: when I go to bed either at night or just to take a nap, I look at the clock – so I can tell how long I sleep; but I almost always can’t recall the time I saw on the clock just before going to sleep – when I awaken. I’m beginning to understand my forgetfulness this way. I’m entering Eternity. There is no Time in Eternity. The Lord is preparing me for this Newness of Life in Eternity – where there is no Time anymore. It is always Right Now. In fact, did you ever notice that everything that has ever happened in your life happened Right Now ? It is always Right Now. Right Now, is Eternal. It never ends. It is the Ever-Present Moment. NOW never goes away. Now has been going on ever since the very beginning of God’s Creation. And something New is going to happen – there will be No More Night. It will Always Be Day – The Day of Eternity.

So, maybe it isn’t a matter of losing my memory; maybe, I’m just losing touch with the world that is passing away. Maybe I’m only departing the world that lies in wickedmess [sic] – I mean wickedness. And for sure it is a blessing from True God to be separated from the world that is so corrupt and in debt and whose rulers and lawmakers consistently fail to do the Right Thing for God and Country and for the people.

“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

“For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling, if indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked. For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.” -2 Corinthians 4: 16 to 5: 5 ESV Study Bible.

And every night when you go to bed it’s Right Now. And every morning when you wake up and get out of bed it’s still Right Now. And if you get sleepy during the DAY and go to bed to take a nap, you do it Right Now.

I began writing this earlier today – I honestly can’t remember when I began the first sentence – whether it was morning or afternoon; now it is 9:13 PM. It was Right Now when I began it – and it is Right Now while I’m adding more to it this evening. And if I only finish it and post it tomorrow it will still be posted Right Now.

And if Eileen ever tells me, again, that I’m living in The Past, I hope I remember to tell her I’m living Right Now, Eileen. And “the summer of ‘74” happened Right Now, Eileen. Every moment of that summer romance happened Right Now.
