Eileen, the Farmer’s Daughter

Farmer McGregor’s Daughter
It was a Friday in early September and Eileen, the farmer’s daughter, was walking in the garden in the early morning. Everything was wet with dew in the garden as if “the night had been crying for the day.” Eileen saw Peter Rabbit with his back to her. She walked up to him. He turned and when their eyes met his little heart just melted at the sight of Eileen. She knelt down beside him and petted his back as if he had just turned into a little lost kitten. And when she touched him her own heart was immediately changed. And her mind was filled with wonder. She picked up this little kitten and held him close against her young bosom. She could feel his little heart beating against her own like a captive bird that was there at her command, my love. . . “that was there at your command, my love.”

The words from The Beatles’ song came from “The Long and Winding Road” and these are those words:
“The long and winding road
That leads to your door
Will never disappear
I’ve seen that road before
It always leads me here
Lead me to you door
The wild and windy night
That the rain washed away
Has left a pool of tears
Crying for the day
Why leave me standing here?
Let me know the way
Many times I’ve been alone
And many times I’ve cried
Anyway you’ll never know
The many ways I’ve tried
And still they lead me back
To the long winding road
You left me standing here
A long long time ago
Don’t leave me waiting here
Lead me to your door”
“The wild and windy night
That the rain washed away
Has left a pool of tears
Crying for the day
Why leave me standing here?
Let me know the way”
“So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. He flees because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd. For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.
“There was again a division among the Jews because of these words. Many of them said, ‘He has a demon, and is insane; why listen to him?’ Others said, ‘These are not the words of one who is oppressed by a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?’” -John 10:7-21. English Standard Version Study Bible. [ESV].

Eileen, while looking at the graphic image above of a yellow one, I was reminded of your brand new VW Beetle in 1974. It was bright yellow.
