About Motherhood

In the Word Woman Is Also the Word Man

Therefore, let woman man up and be strong; let womanhood be seen as a brotherhood of godly soldiers in an army of God; and as good and brave soldiers let them do their job with good courage and valiantly. Let them not shirk their responsibility; let them not desert their post at the time of battle; but, rather, let them turn to True God and trust in Him to help them in their time of need.

Let Women See Motherhood in God’s Light – Not Worldly Light

“I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling; likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness – with good works. Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. Yet she shall be saved through childbearing – if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.” -1 Timothy 2:8-15 ESV Study Bible.

“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time. For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.” -1 Timothy 2:1-7 ESV Study Bible.

As the writer wrote this – and especially while listening to the music videos, he thought:
“This is heart-breaking. Who will listen to it?”  And then he remembered something from the late 1980s when he first heard of World Vision, a Christian relief organization. They had a motto or slogan at that time:

“Let Your Heart Be Broken by the Things That Break the Heart of God”

And in a Leonard Cohen song there is a lyric: something like:
“Don’t Worry About the Cracks – That’s How the Light Gets In”

Perhaps each one of us human beings must receive the gift of a broken heart before the Light of Christ can shine in.

And maybe a broken heart is no more tragic than the breaking open of a little hard-shell acorn; so that a tiny pale green stem of an oak tree sprout can see the light of Day; and begin to grow up and be all that its Maker intends for it to become.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” -John 1:1-5 ESV Study Bible.

“But there will be no gloom for her who was in anguish. In the former time he brought into contempt the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the latter time he has made glorious the way of the sea, the land beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations. The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined.” -Isaiah 9:1, 2. ESV Study Bible.

“Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, which he promised beforehand through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, concerning his Son, who was descended from David according to the flesh and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith for the sake of his name among all the nations, including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.” -Romans 1:1-6 ESV Study Bible.

“Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.” -Hebrews 1:1-4 ESV Study Bible.

“Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.” -Galatians 3:23-29 ESV Study Bible.

Galatians 1-6 ESV – Greeting – Paul, an apostle—not from – Bible Gateway

“Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not listen to the law? For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave woman and one by a free woman. But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while the son of the free woman was born through promise. Now this may be interpreted allegorically: these women are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar. Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia; she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother. For it is written:

“Rejoice, O barren one who does not bear; break forth and cry aloud, you who are not in labor! For the children of the desolate one will be more than those of the one who has a husband.”

“Now you, brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise. But just as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now. But what does the Scripture say? ‘Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.’

“So, brothers, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman.” -Galatians 4:21-31 ESV Study Bible.
