“Two People Were Talking”

Sunday, September 11th, 2022. 3:23 PM

The 254th day of the year 2022.

Two People Were Talking

One of them was still in her right mind . . .

The other was losing his – just as he was supposed to . . . so it would no longer get in the way of the love of God that passes all knowledge . . .

“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith – that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” -Ephesians 3:14-21 ESV Study Bible.

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me – practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.” -Philippians 4:4-9. ESV Study Bible.

April: “How are things going with you, August?”

August: “Well, I’m still here, anyway.”

April: “What does that mean?”

August: “I guess it means the Lord is still surviving me.”

April: “Surviving you?”

August: “Yeah, He’s still keeping me going, I guess. I’m still here, I mean.”

April: “Do you mean: He’s still sustaining you?”

August: “Yeah . . . that’s what I mean . . .what I meant. You know how my vocalabulary works these days, April. It’s a little off the counter, sometimes.”

April: “You mean a little off the mark?”

August: “Yeah . . . that’s what I mean. You know how I like glossalaria, April.”

April: “Glossalaria?”

August: “Yeah . . .  the meanings of words — definitions and things like that just keep coming into my vocalaboratory.”

April: “Your voca-laboratory? Oh, you mean glossary?”

August: “Yeah . . .that’s what I meant, glossatory.”

April: “What else is on your mind, lately, August?”

August: “September is on my mind, April.”

April: “Why September, August?”

August: “Well, first of all, it is the month of September that we’re living in today [September 9, 2022] – and I like the nuances of September, April.”

April: “What nuances of September, August?”

August: “Well, there’s lots of nuances of September, April.”

April: “Tell me one nuance of September, August.”

August: “September is when we used to head back to school for a new experience of scholasticisms.”

April: “And what are scholasticisms, August?”

August: “Scholasticisms are learnings.”

April: “What learnings?”

August: “Oh . . . things like Literature and History and Geography – those are scholasticisms, I guess.”

April: “And what other nuances of September are there, August?”

August: “Well there’s musical nuances of September, April.”

April: “Give me one musical nuance of September, August.”

August: “Here’s one reminiscent nuance of September, April: “September Morn”

April: “August, do you recall any other nuances of September?”

August: “Sure, April. This one’s about romance, I believe: “Will I See You in September”

April: “What’s another word for nuances, August?”

August: “Well, let me think about that one for a moment, April . . . atmospherics, I guess is another word for nuances . . .  maybe.”

April: “Can you explain that for me, August?”

August: “OK. Let me try.  A nuance is a subtlety . . . a subtle thing . . . like a scent in the air, you see, April? And an atmospheric — or atmosphere — has scents, too – like a vagary on the breeze that’s here one moment and suddenly gone away the next.”

April: “Yes, August . . . I see what you mean. I’m having a nuance right now, maybe.”

August: “What is it, April?”

April: “There’s a Kind of Hush All Over the World.”

August: “Are you having nuances of falling in love, April?”

April: “Maybe I am, August.”

August: “And who might you be falling in love with April in the month of September?”

April: “Someone whose nuances just happen to touch my heart’s atmospherics so subtly and vaguely that it makes me feel like crying in the rain. But I don’t want to cry.”

August: “Then what else is there for you to do, April?”

April: “Just trust in God, August – so I don’t do what happened in the song, Hallelujah.”

August: “What happened in that song, April?”

April: “Let’s just listen to it, August. OK?”

August: “OK, April.”

August: “What is the meaning of that song, April?”

April: “I can’t explain it, August.”

August: “One thing I noticed was that there’s a confusion of two men in it.”

April: “What two men, August?”

August: “Samson got his hair cut by Delilah. And David was with Bathsheba – after seeing her bathing on the roof.”

April: “And what is the importance of that distinction, August?”

August: “We need to have a right understanding of God’s Scriptures – so we don’t get confused and led astray by human error; and misinterpret things in the world and things in heaven – natural things and spiritual things  — secular things and holy things.”

April: “You may have just helped me with a concern I had, August.”

August: “What concern is that April?”

April: “I was concerned that I might do to you what happened to the man in that song; but now, I feel some encouragement that you might be able to understand me well enough to survive my way with you, August.”

August: “What is your way with me, April?”

April: “I confess and confide to you, August — my way with you is seductive. I just love to lead you on and make you lust for my body until you begin adoring me as if I were God in the flesh in all His Shekinah glory.”

August: “That reminds me of some Scriptures, April.”

April: “What Scriptures, August?”

August: “Proverbs 9 ESV.”

April: “Then what?”

August: “Let’s just try to remember, instead, what Scripture tells us about love.”

April: “What does it tell us about love, August?”

August: “It’s in 1 Corinthians and it’s a definition of love.”

“But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.” -2 Timothy 3:1-5 ESV Study Bible.

Fear causes us to deprive ourselves and our neighbors of the gift of love.

“Fear has torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love.”

“There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” -1 John 4:18. ESV Study Bible.
