This morning some other thoughts came to mind; perhaps they seem totally unrelated to what is written above. They are about human love – love that is down to earth – rather than about “the things that are above – where Christ sits at the right hand of God.” [see Colossians 3]. So, I guess there is a contrast between eternal love and love in Time that is human and often comes to an end in this our human lives. And I was thinking . . . maybe there is a reason why life on earth is so disappointing and fraught with so much evil and sickness and poverty for many; and violence and war and killing – maybe all that serves to make us wonder if there is something better than the world we live in and suffer in and die in.
