Winning a Sinful Game is Losing
An Example
Suppose two people are in a personal relationship
One of them is domineering
The other is submissive
The dominant one is being selfish – having her own way.
The submissive one is trusting in Christ the Lord and Savior – and suffering . . .
The submissive one is becoming less and less selfish and more and more Christlike
While the selfish and domineering one is becoming more and more sinful and selfish and self-centered. She’s deceived and deluded by “the god of this world.” Even while she’s “winning” the “battle of the sexes” she’s also becoming more and more an evil child of the devil – “the god of this world.”
The submissive one is becoming more and more free of sin and selfishness – as Christ his Savior becomes more Sovereign in his heart – and his self is dying more and more – and thus becoming less and less significant to him – as Christ becomes more and more significant to him. As John the Baptist said of Christ: “He must increase. I must decrease.”
The domineering one is becoming more and more wicked and lost – in separation from the life of Christ.
So, the domineering one wins the personal battle of the sexes —
While the submissive one will enjoy the victory of Christ over the world that lies in wickedness.
The dominant one becomes an unrepentant sinner
The submissive one becomes a true saint.
And those who remain single — and more and more in union with Christ — avoid much grief while enduring unto the end.
There is also another possibility
If both of them are Christians and they both love each other with mutual respect and sincerity of heart and mind and soul and spirit —
Then they may both enjoy life and love and union with Christ
And be blessed by the heavenly Father by his grace through faith in the Son of God –
Jesus Christ their mutual Lord and Savior and Redeemer.
And also be helped by the Helper –
