Someone Got Me Thinking
Nicole sent me an email
It went like this:
Nicole: “Are you there?” That was the entire email.
So, I’ve been contemplating that email during the day every once in a while; wondering how to answer it. I came up with several possibilities. Finally, today, this occurred to me as a possible answer. A boy walks up to a grandfather clock and he says,
Boy: “Grandfather Clock, do you know what time it is?”
Grandfather: He makes a funny face like he’s incredulous or even pained by the question. “What do you think?”
Boy: “I don’t know.”
Grandfather: “Why don’t you know?”
Boy: “Know what?”
Grandfather: “You should know. The answer is as plain as my face.”
Now, about Nicole asking me if I’m there.
Me: “Nicole, I have always been here. Even if I traveled across the country to California, I would still be here. I can’t be anywhere else. No matter where I am or where I go, I always abide here. I can never be there.”
